Across the genres; folk/ jazz/ blues and more, Cambridge based singer-songwriter and pianist Angie Collins brings melancholy as well as dark humour through her warm smokey tones. Reminiscent of Norah Jones and Amy Winehouse she performs both solo and with her band Bête Noire.

Angie moved to Cambridge in 2020 and quickly connected with the local music scene who welcomed and encouraged her to perform her own material. Accompanied by a varying combination of musicians including Malek Hyde-Smith, Josie Campbell, Fabian Bonner, Richard Keys and Ezio Lunedei she is regularly performing in and around Cambridge with her debut album being recorded in August this year under the management of Little Wing Records.

Angie started writing her own music as early as 7 or 8 years of age, influenced by her parents’ choice of a wide variety of genres. She has always released and diarised emotions directly into (and with) the familiar “home piano” that always felt like a comfort and a best friend. And she continues to.

​

As with all song-writers, life and love provided the songwriting material along the way and she joined various local bands in the Midlands primarily as a keyboard player and Backing Vocalist. In later years, she formed female duo “Dusk til Dawn” with the now renowned broadway artist Sandra Marvin which took her into her 20’s experimenting with backing tapes, pop and inserting the odd original song where it was hoped not to be noticed. Forward-wind married life and two children growing up and now she is back performing but this time with all the confidence of a mature woman carrying scars and stories but now understanding her meaning and her place.

Surrounded by the rich talent and warmth of Cambridge she feels she has found her place and is eager to share new songs that connect and resonate with her audience. There is a new freedom and energy that she feels and wishes to share - enabled by an appetite for original music, incredible musicians and treasured friendships and manager Clare Hayes.
